From the 30th of May to the 2nd of June 2023, London will be welcoming the second edition of the UK Piano Open, an international piano competition open to pianists of all nationalities, provided that they are no older than 35 years of age.
Held over two rounds, this competition will give talented young musicians the opportunity to showcase their skills, with a wide repertoire allowing them to demonstrate their full command of the instrument, including a contemporary work from the competition’s Composer-In-Residence Alexey Shor.
Through it all, the contest will be presided over by an illustrious jury board that consists of some of the most respected and experienced pianists and pedagogues active today, including Pavel Gililov (Austria/Germany), Vanessa Latarche (UK), Graham Scott (UK), Matthew Trusler (UK), and Ashley Wass (UK).
There will be a total prize fund of €18,000 awaiting the top-ranked contestants, with €10,000 going to the First Prize winner, €5,000 to the second, and €3,000 to the third. In addition, this edition of the UK Piano Open also forms part of the ‘14 Ways to Dubai’ initiative, a large-scale international endeavour which consists of 14 preliminary piano competitions held in 14 different countries around the world. This means that the top-five-ranked UK Piano Open participants will also win the right to participate in the 2024 Classic Piano International Competition, which will be held in Dubai as part of the acclaimed InClassica International Music Festival, with a further €250,000 worth of prizes to be shared among the award-winners there.
We wish all our participants the best of luck, and look forward to welcoming you all to London!
